Administrative Experience

C.1. Served as Sub-Dean (Exams), AIIMS New Delhi  from  01.06. 2001 -07.09.2006:

 I.  The examination system adopted by AIIMS is undoubtedly excellent, innovative  and keeps on improving with time. Besides this, I supervised all internal (home) examinations, 13 entrance examinations and several recruitments through screening tests.   I have contributed applying the basic principles of assessment to the selection of students to various streams.

I had the responsibility to supervise and conduct of  the following Entrance Examinations for 6 years (Approx. 1,50,000 candidates participates in the following examinations annually) :

  1. All India PG entrance examinations
  2. AIIMS PG entrance (twice in a year)
  3. MBBS entrance examinations
  4. PhD entrance examinations (twice in year)
  5. DM / MCh entrance examinations  (twice in year)
  6. Nursing entrance  examinations
  7. BSc (Human Biology) entrance examinations (till 2003)
  8. MSc entrance examinations
  9. M Biotech entrance examinations
  10. Conducting screening tests for various jobs at AIIMS (e.g.  Statistical assistants,  Data entry operator, Clerical posts, Selection of Junior Account officers,  Stenographers etc.). (This served as innovation in recruitment procedure.  We also used OSPE type test to test skill of candidates.  Conducting written/practical screening test became a policy at AIIMS. Before this only interviews were the sole method of recruitment at AIIMS New Delhi.

II.   As Sub-Dean, Examinations, I was ex-officio member of the following standing Committees of AIIMS, New Delhi:

  1. Academic Committee.
  2. Staff Council.
  3. Examination committee.
  4. Selection committee for research staff recruitment.
  5. Dean’s Committee.
  6. Institute Research Committee.
  7. Counselling committees for MD/MS, Paramedical and nursing candidates.
  8. Curriculum committee (both pre and clinical subjects).

IV Maintaining liaison with Ministry of Health & Family Welfare  and  other Govt. Departments for   Entrance Examinations (2001-2008).

C.2.   Administrative duties in the capacity of Faculty of Physiology

  1. For nine years, I looked-after curriculum planning, preparing teaching schedules, maintaining MCQ and OSPE Banks, arranging semester examinations (3 exams  per year and 1 professional exam every year) (1989-98).
  2. Secretary, Delhi Chapter of Association of Physiologists and Pharmacologists of   India, 1996-2008.
  3. Faculty I/C, Audiovisual and documentation in the Dept. of Physiology (1994-2001).
  4. Faculty I/C, computerization in department from 1991 to 2001.
  5. In-Charge  of  Autonomic Function lab  since 1989.
  6. In-Charge of all entrance examination work related to Department (since 2011) and  Nodal  officer for Departments annual report (since 2012).

       Other Administrative Experience

  1.  Chairman of the committee for “deciding technical qualification for designing, developing  and deployment of web based online application management system for Examination  Section (2011).
  2. Chairman of committee to finalize  Request For Proposal (RFP) document Specification, Evaluation,     Processing of tender/RFP for Conduct and  Processing Online Examination (Computer Based Test) for Various Examination of the All  India Institute of Medical Sciences, New   Delhi  (2013).

C.3 :  Administrative experience as Professor In-Charge, CMET:

          Under my guidance and leadership as  Professor In-Charge of CMET AIIMS New Delhi, CMET organized the following important Health Professionals development programs

1. Training of Group D Employees at AIIMS, New Delhi:

For the first time CMET organized a capacity building training program for  1285 Group D Employees of AIIMS belonging to eight categories : Hospital Attendant, Office Attendant, Laundry Attendant, Beldars, Khalasi, Mali, Kitchen staff, Bearers, Cleaners. In all 110 trainers were pooled from twelve departments     of AIIMS: General Administration, Hospital Administration, CMET, Dietetics, Security, Centre for  Community Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Sanitation, Nursing, Engineering (Civil, Electrical, Air-conditioning  and Horticulture),  ORBO/Eye Bank and Cafetaria. The said program was rolled out from August 2011 to January, 2012 in 31 batches. This became  exemplary model for other institutions to follow.   

2. Development Program for Nursing

The CMET  organized regular programs for College of  Nursing, AIIMS, New Delhi.  The topics included Designing Effective Presentation, Animation in Powerpoint, Tools for Scientific Writing in Microsoft office word, Organizing Workshop, Digital Photography etc. There is substantial number of nursing students pursuing Masters in Nursing (MSc Nursing) and these skill are very helpful for them.

3.  Development Program for Resident Doctors:

Workshops were organized for the Senior/Junior residents, Pool Officers, PhD students on issues such as scientific writing, informational retrieval in health sciences and making effective presentations using media (2011 Contd.). 

For the first time in 2012 dedicated orientation Workshops were organized  for  76 resident doctors of AIIMS to make them aware of their working responsibilities, privileges and skills required during residency program. Such program was also organized for newly joined interns.

4. Faculty Development Programs:

Extensiveorientation workshops were held for 90 newly inducted faculty to make them aware of their working responsibilities, privileges  and  skills required (2012). 

A national level workshop for faculty  to assess the status of Problem Based Learning (PBL)  curriculum in India (2011).

In another series of workshop for faculty we organized workshops covering various topics such as Effective Teaching through Microteaching, MCQs and Item Analysis  Scientific writing, literature search, tips for publishing,  Managing procurement and purchase,  and Leadership and Management of   change during 2012-13. Depending on the levels of seniority the contents of the workshops were matched.

Highlights of the work done at  Centre for Medical Education and Technology) (CMET)

In response to the need for addressing faculty development in the context of overall functioning of AIIMS, CMET emphasized the skill enhancement of various health professionals across the institute.  Workshops were organized for the Senior/Junior residents, Pool Officers, Ph.D. Students on issues such as scientific writing, informational retrieval in health sciences and making effective presentations using media.  A massive training program was organized for  1285 Group D Employees in collaboration with twelve departments of AIIMS for their capacity building and effective functioning as members of health team.   As an In charge CMET and  faculty I was  also involved in important national initiatives such as National Knowledge Commission, Steering Committee for the establishment of National Health Portal, Expert Committees of MCI related with Undergraduate/Postgraduate Medical Education.

C 4 Superintendent of Hostels 

Served in this position for more than 2 years (2017-2019). There are more that 400 

students to cater by this office. Finalized a Hostel manual at AIIMS, New Delhi.

C 5: Administrative contribution to Store-Purchase procedure:

I have been member o of SPC since 2003.  Later I served as Chairman AIIMS   negotiation committee, since 2015, which I am still continuing.

Currently I am serving as Chairman AIIMS Store Purchase Committee (SPC)  since 1st July 2020.

C.6 As Head of the Department: Since Dec 2015.

C 7: Dean (Examination):  Since Oct 2020.

Overall supervision of Examination process at AIIMS, New Delhi.  Serving as Liaison person and consultation for NEET and NEXT examinations, Nursing entrance examinations at national level.  Member of major decision committees and selection process at AIIMS New Delhi. Overall supervision of all recruitments at AIIMS.
